Chal’tsev Mykhailo Mykolaiovych was born on the 17th of November, 1941 into the family of a worker in Horlivka. In 1948 he went to school №11 which he finished in 1958. On leaving school he worked at the coal mine “Komsomolets” (Member of the Young Communist League) of the trust “Horlovskuhol” (The coal of Horlivka).
   In April 1959 he went to Siberia where during a field season he worked with Horlivka gravimetric party of Irkutsk “Naftoheofizyky” (Oil geophysics).
   In November 1959 at the end of the field season he returned to Horlivka and till August 1960 worked as a metal craftsman apprentice in the mine-building administration №3 of the trust “Artiomshakhtostroi” (Mine building board named after Artiom – pseudonym of Sergeyev Fyodor Andreevich (1883—1921) – professional revolutionary and a statesman).
   From September 1960 to August 1965 he was a student of Donets’k Polytechnic Institute – Mining and Mechanical Faculty, where he majored in mine mechanical engineering.
   Starting from 1965 up to 1969 he worked as a constructor-engineer in a special design office of the “Artiomuhol” combine.
In January 1970 he started to work in DONUHI (a research institute) as a senior engineer of the constructor department.
   Since November 1970 he has been working at the Automobile Highway Engineering Institute of the State Education Establishment DonNTU (Donets’k National Technical University) – the former General Technical Faculty – a Branch of DPI (Donets’k Polytechnic Institute). He worked as a senior engineer of “NDS” – scientific-research sector (1970—1973); a senior research worker (1973—1975), a Senior Teacher of the Chair of Strength/Resistance of Materials and Construction Mechanics (1975—1977), Head of the Chair (since 1979 onward), Dean of the Faculty of Motor Vehicles Highways (1981—1985), Director of Horlivka Affiliated Branch certificated as the Automobile Highway Engineering Institute DonNTU (Donets’k National Technical University) (since October 1985 onward). Candidate of Science – Technology (1978), Associate Professor of the Chair of Strength/Resistance of Materials and Construction Mechanics (1982), Professor of this Chair (1991), Academician of the Transport Academy of Ukraine (1992); he combined his work at the Institute with the duties of the mayor of Horlivka (1991—1993).
  Scientific-research orientation: mechanics of dry substances surroundings (medium) and pneumatic transport of dry substances. He is the author of 80 scientific works (publications), has the title – inventor of the USSR. Under his supervision there were created pneumatic transport plants, which work at Slov’iansk, Kurakhovo and Semipalatinsk thermoelectric power stations and at the enterprises of the construction industry.
   The plants, displayed at the USSR and the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic National Economy Achievements Exhibition were awarded the Diplomas II and III degree (the Second and the Third Degree), decorated with Silver and Gold medals.
He is also awarded the memorial Horlov Medal, Diplomas of the Ministry of Science and Education of Ukraine and Regional State Administration, with the title – Honorary road-builder.
   Mykhailo Mykolaiovych is married; he has two children and three grandchildren.
